Transgender Hair Removal

At Cristianos we recognise the needs of our transgender, intersexed, non-binary, gender fluid patients are very special:

“The prospect of having a hair free, smooth complexion offers freedom from the worry and practical day to day constraints caused by facial and body hair. Not having to shave or concern yourself with the inevitable 6 o’clock shadow and not drawing attention to yourself with heavy make-up will have a very positive effect on your self-confidence and quality of life. Patients who require hair removal to skin tissue in preparation for GRS are safe in our hands. Whether patients are m2f or f2m we are well versed in preparing the skin for reconstructive surgery”…Chris Hart

Cristianos emerged in 1997, with the experience of one woman, Chris Hart. She was determined that all treatments, in which she was involved, had an ethical approach; the needs of patients would be the first consideration. She established the first Cristianos Laser Clinic in Altrincham, near Manchester, to provide that service. The reputation of the Clinic became such that demand increased and, in response to that need and to reduce the traveling times of clients, other Clinics have since been established in London, Leeds, Liverpool and Bury Lancashire.

We have an excellent working relationship with NHS Gender Services for transgender hair removal and take direct referrals from Tavistock & Portman, Leeds GIC, The Laurels GIC, Northampton GIC, Porterbrook Sheffield GIC and Nottingham GIC. We also work closely with all the Surgeons specialising in Gender both m2f and f2m.

FAQs

No, laser hair removal is only suitable for hair containing dark pigment. We offer electrolysis to treat hair containing little or no dark pigment.

If your facial hair is either grey, Red or blonde then laser nor VPL is suitable as there wouldn't be enough melanin in the hair shaft to produce results, we would then recommend electrolysis at one of our Cristianos Clinics. Unfortunately we do not carry our electrolysis on the Perineal area, however we will refer you to an other supplier.

There is a sensation to this treatment however it is best described as slightly uncomfortable rather than painful. Most people tolerate the treatment well and say the benefits are well worthwhile.

Hair follicles go through different stages of growth and not all follicles are active at any given time. Multiple treatments are needed to ensure all of the hair follicles are destroyed.
