Pseudo-Folliculitis Barbae
Is a condition caused by ingrowing hairs. The condition is more common in dark skinned men where the facial hair is curly. The hair grows into the surface of the skin and causes lumps and bumps.

Hidradenitis Suppurativa
Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is very resistant to both medical and surgical management — exacerbations, recurrence, and progression are the norm. The observation that HS may be related to follicular occlusion has led to attempts to treat HS with hair removal lasers.
Laser hair removal seems to achieve modest improvement in hidradenitis suppurativa by destroying the offending hair follicles. To be effective the treatments need to be quite aggressive, multiple treatments will probably be needed to achieve significant reduction in disease activity. The duration of remission is yet to be determined but specialists recommend laser hair removal [as a preventive measure] because then those affected do not have to shave and it decreases the flare.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
PCOS sometimes known as Stein-Leventhal Syndrome is an endocrine disorder related to insulin resistance. High levels of insulin can cause the body to produce too much testosterone, which in turn can have a masuclinising effect on the body causing excessive male pattern hair growth.

Spina Bifida Occulta
Some forms of Spina Bifida (SB) for example Spina Bifida Occulta can result in a patch of hair growth at the base of the spine, which may be accompanied by a mole or naevus (birthmark), a dimple or sinus (hole). This form of SB is believed to effect as many as 10% of the population.

Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH)
CAH is caused by a problem with the feedback system which controls the production of adrenocorticotrophic (ACTH). The level of cortisol in the bloodstream is low, there is never enough produced to slow the release of ACTH from the pituitary gland.
