Pilonidal Sinus

26.06.2026

A pilonidal sinus is a small cyst or abscess that occurs in the cleft at the top of the buttocks. This condition often contains hair, dirt, and debris, leading to severe pain and infection. Pilonidal sinuses typically affect men more than women and are most common in young adults. The exact cause is not well understood, but it is believed to result from a combination of hormonal changes, hair growth, and friction in the gluteal cleft.

Symptoms of a pilonidal sinus include pain, swelling, redness, and drainage of pus or blood from the affected area. In some cases, fever may occur if an infection is present. If left untreated, a pilonidal sinus can lead to chronic inflammation and the formation of multiple sinus tracts.

Treatment options vary based on the severity of the condition. Conservative treatment includes maintaining proper hygiene, shaving the area to prevent hair accumulation, and using warm compresses to alleviate discomfort. If an infection is present, antibiotics may be prescribed. In more severe cases, surgical intervention may be necessary. This can range from simple incision and drainage to more complex procedures such as excision and primary closure or flap techniques to reduce recurrence.

Advanced Cosmetic Procedures

Cristianos’ advanced cosmetic procedures encompass a range of treatments designed to address various skin concerns, including the removal of skin tags, warts, and seborrheic keratosis (seb K).

Skin Tags:

Skin tags are benign, small, soft skin growths that typically appear in areas where the skin folds, such as the neck, armpits, and groin. They can be removed using several methods, including cryotherapy (freezing), cauterization (burning), excision (cutting), or laser treatments. These procedures are usually quick and minimally invasive, often performed under local anesthesia.

Warts:

Warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) and can appear on various parts of the body. Common treatments include cryotherapy, where the wart is frozen off, and topical treatments that contain salicylic acid to gradually peel away the wart. Laser treatment and surgical removal are also options, particularly for stubborn warts.

Seborrheic Keratosis (Seb K):

Seborrheic keratosis is a common, non-cancerous skin growth that appears as a brown, black, or pale growth on the face, chest, shoulders, or back. These lesions can be removed for cosmetic reasons using cryotherapy, electrosurgery, or laser ablation. These methods are effective in removing the lesions with minimal discomfort and downtime.

Advanced cosmetic procedures have significantly evolved, offering effective and minimally invasive options for treating various skin conditions. These procedures not only improve the aesthetic appearance but also enhance the quality of life for individuals dealing with these benign skin issues. Proper diagnosis and treatment by a qualified dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon ensure optimal outcomes and minimal complications.

According to a study published in the Journal of Dermatological Treatment,

“Minimally invasive techniques for the removal of skin lesions have shown high efficacy with low recurrence rates.”
